In vitro analysis of Chemosensitivity of peritoneal cancer cells using CASY
Recently a new paper has been released, describing experiments in which experimental duplex agents are compared with standard cytostatica. (Investigational new drugs, HTTPS://DOI.org/10.1007/s10637-018-0641-6)
Aim of the study was to standardize intraperitoneal chemotherapy by using experimental data and to make treatment more predictible, also, a new duplex- drug (5FdU ECyd) was be tested.
CASY was used for the evaluation of Chemosensitivity. The cell number and the viability of the target cells was determined in Cytotoxicity assays.
CASY proved to be simple, reliable tool to test the cellular response against various active ingredients. It has been shown that novel conjugates can be used as an alternative or as a supplement in intraperitoneal chemotherapy – also in vitro experiments appear suitable, as to be used decision support tools in the chemotherapy of patients with peritoneal metastases from gastrointestinal primary tumors.
